Subject Attributes
Superhuman Abilities:
None
Standard Abilities:
Porcupine has been trained in hand to hand combat by Jessica Drew, having been shown to be trained enough to swing kick off of a lamp-post after a running start. He is also excellent at taking care of kids due to having raised his daughter Kallie during his previous house arrests. He has also had some training from Jess on how to take down supervillains, including flash cards and quizzes on how to beat certain villains.
Paraphernalia:
Porcupine Battlesuit: Created by the late Alexander Gentry, the Porcupine battlesuit is made of a thick kevlar material that is capable of handeling close range shotgun fire, although it will still leave the wearer dazed from the impact. The mask of the suit contains optional night vision lenses, and the gloves contain sharpened claws on the fingertips. The main draw of the Porcupine suit however is the many quills that line the forearms, forelegs, and back of the suit. Each made of a razor sharp material strong enough to embed itself in metal, he is capable of shooting these quills from his arms in a cone facing away from him or even from his back in an AOE attack. These quills can have a variety of effects similar to Hawkeye's arrows, noteably explosive, knock out gas, sedititive, and normal quills. He has also been shown to be able to fire small missiles out of the back of his suit.
Subject Weaknesses:
The Porcupine suit may be bullet resistant, but enough repeated damage will break though and leave him vulnerable, as well as explosions, blades, or blunt force. The arms and legs of the suit are actually seperate pieces, thus it is possible to yank them off of Roger and leave him relatively defenseless. Roger is also fairly new to the hero gig as a whole, and thus is prone to making easy slip ups/mistakes. He is also human, thus any normal methods of death for a human will apply to Roger himself.
Subject History
Not much is known of what led Roger Gocking to the path of crime in the first place other than him lamenting it. He was one of many petty crooks who were lured in by The Hobgoblin to partake in his latest scheme of renting and franchising out former villains weapons and gadgets. Taking up the mantle of the formerly deceased Porcupine, Roger would carry on the torch of being a failed and mocked loser of a villain. Be it robbing banks, joining the Masters of Evil, or being conscripted into Tony Stark's Thunderbolts army during Civil War.
Hanging up the quills and attending Villains Anonymous meetings, Roger would attempt to be a better man for his wife and daughter, only to find them missing and a ransom note demanding ongoing payments for their safety. After filing a police report without any luck, having little choice left Roger would don the Porcupine mantle once more and go on a string of robberies, being intercepted by Jessica Drew aka Spiderwoman and letting it slip that his family had been kidnapped and threatened. Relenting on the crook and promising to investigate his claims, Porcupine, Jessica, and Ben Ulrich would soon discover that a whole crew of other "loser" baddies had been suffering the same ransom, which led to Jessica letting herself get captured in the Porcupine suit to sneak into the ransomers hideout. Jessica would discover there was no kidnapper at all, but a community of the battered/threatened families and spouses of villains had created their own safe haven and were blackmailing their former lovers for the money to keep it running.
Devestated over this revelation, Porcupine would encounter his ex wife Olivia and their daughter Kallie, asking what he did to deserve this as he had never laid a finger on any of them. Olivia claiming his previous villain escapades were "Mental abuse" to their young daughter, Roger pleaded with his ex for a second chance to be there for his daughter, leading to him becoming partners with Jessica in her fight against crime and private investigator shenanigans. Roger would develop feelings for his new partner in crime fighting, but kept them bottled up due to the stresses Jessica had already been suffering at that moment. This however, would be when he quit Hobgoblin's criminal ring officially, thinking it would all blow over...
Instead Hobgoblin and a crew of croonies would ambush Roger on patrol, taking back the suit piece by piece and seemingly murdering him with a pumpkin bomb. Filled with vengeance, Jessica would investigate Roger's murder only to discover that Roger had survived the attack, trailing Jessica to make sure she didn't get caught up in more trouble than she could handle. Once the two reunited and professed their love, Hobgoblin would capture Roger once more and attempt to end them both, but the duo managed to suppress Hobgoblin long enough for the Avengers to arrive as backup. The two officially declaring their love to the rest of the hero community, everything seemed well.
Subject Interview
Man, who'd have ever guessed he'd be on the other end of the podium huh? Before him stood Abner Jenkins, the original Beetle. Those these days he went by Mach V? Or was it Mach X? He couldn't quite remember due to how often Jenkins upgraded his suit. But still, he was proud of the dude. Went from a bottom of the barrel Spiderman villain to one of the shining examples of superhero reform within The Thunderbolts, alongside the likes of The Fixer, Songbird, and Atlas. Who knows, maybe one day they'd be so beloved people forgot where they came from. Like Black Widow or Hawkeye. The thought put a smile on ol Porc's face.
It's true they deserved it all. But him? He had only made the jump to hero rather recently. Under forced circumstances at that. Was he really ready for this? He'd come far sure, but he was no big shot like the others.
"Hey Abe, you sure I'm up to this? It's not like I'm some fancy government sponsored hero like you and Melissa, Am I really gonna inspire anyone?" Roger pondered, receiving a rather forceful pat on the back from his acquaintance's power armor.
"Ah, don't give into such rubbish Roger! Your story is just as inspiring as the rest of us! Now go on out there and change some lives!" Encouraged Abe, getting a nervous thumbs up from Roger in return as he stepped through the doorways into the rented out church basement his former villainous cohorts resided in. Taking a deep breath, he put a smile on his face and rubbed his hand gingerly over the cue cards he had prepared in his suit pocket.
I mean if someone as incredible as Jess saw the good in him, then that must mean something.
