Character Selection Info
When in doubt: ask!
If you're at all uncertain about whether or not a particular character is applicable, please ask the staff first. That potentially saves you time and energy spent on an application for a character you won't even be able to play.
Be considerate when choosing characters!
Think about your roster before you add to it. Don't choose paired characters, or monopolize members of a specific super team. Try for some diversity in member groups, backgrounds and personalities. Usually, when your cast is broad in attitudes and themes, it's easier to keep your muses for them sustained.
Canonical Romance
The only time two characters are effectively "locked" in a romance on MFT is if they are married by our plot point (Reed and Sue Richards are a prime example). Otherwise, no matter who your character may have been romantically involved with at our plot point, you are not bound to that pairing and are free to plot an alternative one.
X-Men Characters
On MFT, the events of X-Men: Disassembled have occurred, with one pivotal difference: the last panel in on-site continuity ended with Nate Grey/X-Man vanishing from existence. In other words, he did not wipe the X-Men present for the event from existence. Therefore, the preceding events of Uncanny X-Men (which included Scott Summers and Logan Howlett gathering the remaining X-Men, etc.) has not occurred.
Select Characters.
"Select" characters are characters that are too powerful or select in their uses to be reasonably allowed for regular play on the board. Their agendas are too far-reaching, or it would be impossible for someone to maintain the monthly post minimum with them. Characters on the list below can be applied for, but they cannot be your first character. They also don't count as one of the ten slots on your roster, and must be requested via PM to the admin before you're cleared to register as them. One member may write a maximum of one Select character at a time.
Non-playable characters.
Though ARFD aims to allow the maximum amount of characters to be applied for, a precious few are not allowed.
Character Groups
This is a list of the different member groups on the forum with descriptions of what classifies each of them. Please read through this carefully and discern what group would suit the character you're applying for. If the staff disagree with your classification we will let you know during the application reviewing process.
