The Empire State Building
New York City was more than just his playground, Peter knows its every streets, alleys, and rooftops better than anyone. He paced up the structure, debating whether to call aunt May or MJ.
They’re fine. You could call aunt May—but she’s happy. I’d hate to burden her, all over it again. She’s endured enough. So has.. He’d dismissed the thought, yet he couldn’t let go of it altogether. He slowly made his way the magnificent structure, it was after all one of the many varieties for tourist attractions in Manhattan. Avoiding tourists and security was easy, he’d quickly work his way to the exterior observation deck without breaking so much of a sweat. He’d been there since just before sundown, watching and listening for anything unusual. The Empire State Building provided him with a three hundred and sixty degree panoramic view. It was also quiet and peaceful, he’d taken some time to gather his thoughts on his other life. The skyline loomed in the background as he crawled towards to the antenna.
Sometime later.. somewhere in the City
Okay, I’m done!
Doesn’t look like there are any bad guys who need my immediate attention.
No cats caught in trees, no burning buildings, and best of all, no crazies out to kill me.
So I’ll head for home and a nice, warm, cozy bed.
As much as he liked swinging from building to building across New York City, he was also one to enjoy the simple things. Peter leapt from the top of a building to a fire escape, ran up to another roof, dashed across the top, and shot off a strand of web zipping his way through the narrow space. The cover of the night, dimmed buildings and quiet rooftops made the routine trip across Manhattan fun.
The night unfolds itself across the city of New York. Creeping out shadowed corners, it stretches long, dark fingers over jumbled skyline as the sun fades below the western horizon. And no shadow is longer, or darker than that cast by this tower, the base of operations of Osborn Industries and many others. Unilluminated now, all employees having been sent home early, hours ago. The layers of its many stories are wrapped in darkness, still and silent, as though waiting for a light to burst upon them.
The beam and flashing of lights called out to him, followed by a controlled blast, sending debris and charred office supplies into the wind. ..did I just jinx myself?” Spider-Man mused as he swung through a shattered window. He’d planned on landing on the floor, but there was none, so instead at the last moment he performed an in-air flip and clung to the ceiling. The explosion caused for the floor to collapse, leaving no traces of what it was storing. Emergency lights flickered inside every floor, the blaring of the alarm system rang out, echoing through every open space within the structure.
”Hello? Osborn? Anyone? If this is a surprise party, you should know, I don’t like surprises.” As entertaining as that was, Peter hoped this mess wasn’t caused by any maniacs on gliders. Spider-Man lowered himself, using a web line, while scanning the floor and damages.
