Subject Attributes
Superhuman Abilities:
Asgardian Physiology -
Superhuman Strength: As the daughter of Odin, she naturally possesses far greater strength than the average Asgardian. She was even able to match an admittedly weary and wounded Thor blow for blow, noting that he had "a slight edge in raw strength."
Superhuman Stamina: Angela's advanced musculature is considerably more efficient than that of a human and most other Asgardians. Her virtually inexhaustible stamina enables her to exert herself at peak capacity for months without tiring at all.
Superhuman Durability: Being an Asgardian Goddess, Angela possesses virtual invulnerability and immunity to all known Earthly diseases, toxins, poisons, and infections. She has so far comfortably flown through the vacuum of space and has an immunity to extreme heat and subzero temperatures.
Superhuman Dense Tissue: Like all Asgardians, Angela's skin, muscles, and bones are about three times denser than similar human tissue, contributing to her superhuman strength and weight.
Superhuman Speed: Angela is very fast, even for a Goddess. It was said that she is faster than the Dísir, who is faster than the speed of lightning.
Healing Factor: Angela is not invulnerable to all harm and it is possible that sufficient blunt physical force can injure her. But due to her unique physiology she is able to heal from most injuries much faster than a human being ever could.
Longevity: It is a common misconception that Angela and the other Gods of Asgard are truly immortal. Angela and the other members of her race do age but at a rate so slow that to other beings they give the appearance of immortality.
Allspeak: Thanks to the Allspeak, Angela can communicate in all of the languages of the Ten Realms, Earth's dialects, and various alien languages.
Enhanced Senses: Angela is capable of tracking her prey through scent.
Flight: Angela has shown the unusual ability to fly, not only in the atmosphere but also in the vacuum of space. Through which means she is capable of doing so is currently unknown.
Self Sustenance: She is capable of surviving in the vacuum of space without needing to breathe. Whether or not she requires other sustenance, such as food or water, is unknown.
Standard Abilities:
Hunter & Tracker: In Heven, there are beasts to be hunted and destroyed. Angela was the best of these hunters, becoming the Hunter of the Heavens. She can track her prey with her powerful sense of smell.
Soldier: Trained extensively in Heven, Angela became a fearless warrior for the Queen of Angels to fight in any of Heven's wars.
Proficient Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Her life of training has made Angela a formidable combatant even when unarmed, having faced off with Thor and bested him while he was weakened.
Master of all bladed weapons: Her training does not end at unarmed combat, her mastery of bladed weapons is uncontested.
Paraphernalia:
Heven Armor: The standard suit of armor worn by the Angels of Heven.
Hevenly Ribbons: Angela has a psychic connection to the ribbons attached to her outfit, being capable of using them to strangle or cut her opponents.
Xiphos the Sword of the Stars: A legendary sword acquired by Angela under unknown circumstances.
Ichors: Also known as the Blades of Ichor, it is a liquid metal, double-edged scimitar that can take the form of any bladed weapon. It can also be split into two separate weapons, and take the form of a whip.
Subject Weaknesses:
Lightning: Angela was shown to be vulnerable to lightning at least on one occasion. That is presumably due to the time she spent on Heven.
Outcast: As she was born in Asgard but raised in Heven, Angela is not exactly accepted by either. Called the Wingless-One by other Angels, she was always regarded as an outsider even as she became Heven's top hunter. When she found out her true lineage she wanted nothing to do with Asgard. Though she has now come to accept and care for some Asgardians and essentially razed the Angels of Heven, she still feels a lack of belonging.
Guilt: Angela harbors deep guilt. She knows the war of Heven and Asgard was fought over her, she let her love die and then ultimately lost her when she returned, and she has dragged her only friends (the Guardians of the Galaxy) into more trouble than she cares to recount.
Subject History
Aldrif Odinsdottir was the firstborn of Odin and Freyja, and heir to the Asgardian throne. When Heven waged war on Asgard, the Queen of Angels kidnapped Aldrif in an attempt to blackmail Odin into surrendering. He refused, and the Queen seemingly killed Aldrif before fleeing. Following this event, Odin used his powers to cut Heven from the other Nine Realms and Yggdrasill.
After the Queen of Angels ordered the corpse of the baby to be disposed, the queen's handmaiden Loriel, who was tasked to do this, discovered it was still alive, and raised her as one of the Angels under the name of Angela. Growing up Angela was always mocked for being wingless and always sought her mother to comfort her, but at some point, Loriel disappeared under mysterious circumstance and left no trace behind. Channeling her frustrations and rage into a mutable aggression Angela eventually became the Leader of the Hunt in Heven and lived in her own manor.
When a monster attacked the Temple of the Anchorites, home of the sequestered wingless and enslaved male Angels, Angela was tasked to kill the beast, and would have been killed by it if not for one of the Anchorites, Sera. As payment for Sera's aid, Angela got her out of the temple as she wished. Together the two found a way to change Sera's form from male to female and Angela took her to live with her in her manor.
While hunting a fugitive in the Scintilant Sylvanias, Angela and Sera were confronted by a Hierophant of the Temple of the Anchorites. The Hierophant wanted to return Sera to her place as an Anchorite in the Temple, for she had transgressed and witnessed the Hierophants' plans to overthrow the Queen of Angels and she had even managed to kill a Hierophant before Angela had showed up and saved her. The Hierophant offered Angela information about what became of Loriel, in exchange for Sera, but Angela refused the offer and attacked the deity instead. Defeated, the Hierophant vanished, vowing to take revenge on Angela for defying the Temple. Confused, Sera asked why Angela didn't take the deal and Angela swore she would never let her set foot in a Hell like that again. Afterward, Angela kissed Sera, finally recognizing her love for her.
After many adventures through the Endworlds, Angela saw Sera die at the hands of one of their enemies. Angela tried anything and everything to bring Sera back to life, but all was in vain. Sera's soul was sent to Hel in consequence of a curse the Norns helped Freyja cast upon the Angels of Heven for stealing her daughter from her in the past. For being insolent towards Hela, the Queen of Hel, Sera was sent to a prison cell in the North Wing. There she would be left alone in the dark, just like it was during her time as an Anchorite, and it was her worst fear.
Some time later in the wake of Ultron's defeat, the time-space continuum was broken permanently, as a result tears in the fabric of reality opened up across the Multiverse and Angela was pulled out of Heven and into Midgard.
An angry and confused Angela made her way towards Earth to take revenge on whoever had brought her there, unaware as to why she had been pulled out of her home dimension. She appeared on the Guardians of the Galaxy's Earth signal. Gamora intercepted the call and attacked Angela. The rest of the Guardians managed to defeat her, and she was captured. After an interrogation, during which Angela spoke of her home and people, Angela claimed that she was only heading to Earth because she wanted to see it for herself. The Guardians realized they actually incited the fight, freed Angela and accompanied her to explore Earth.
Angela sensed the reopening of Heven to the other Nine Realms by the hand of Thor and Loki, and returned to her home. She found an exhausted Thor having fought the Angels, and proceeded to defeat him in combat, however, he was kept alive under the counsel of Loki, who had sided with the Angels as their "Mistress of Strategies."
While Loki led an Angel fleet to Asgard, under the false pretense to help them destroy it, Thor escaped captivity and engaged once again Angela in combat. This time Thor gained the upper hand and prepared to kill her. Their fight was interrupted by the arrival of Odin, who had been liberated by Loki from his self-exile in Asgard. Odin recognized Angela as his daughter and offered her to join him and the rest of the Asgardians, Angela refused, as she was raised to think Asgardians were her enemies, but also couldn't stay in Heven due to the Angels rejecting her for her lineage.
After the birth of her younger sister, Angela went to Asgardia and kidnapped her, escaping through teleportation to Limbo. However, Angela was followed by a group of Asgardians, led by her now unworthy brother, Odinson. Angela fled to the Moon with the baby, where the Guardians of the Galaxy were waiting for them. While playing cards with her friends, Angela heard something and repeated it, inadvertently calling the Dísir to the Guardians' ship. A fierce battle ensued between the Guardians and the former Valkyries of Bor. The battle ended with all the Dísir left in pieces (literally) and with Brün revealing to the Guardians that Angela had kidnapped the baby. With the Guardians demanding answers, Angela explained that Odin and Freyja laid together in the realm between realms, where Odin imprisoned Surtur when he threatened to burn everything. The child had three parents, Surtur being the third. Angela needed to take the child to Heven so they would save all reality from burning again. The Guardians didn't believe her, until the baby transformed herself into a fire demon and burned Groot down.
The Guardians took them to Heven, where they were attacked by Angels and Asgardians, who had discovered what Angela was up to through the Dísir and went to wage war on Heven again. An enraged Odinson battled Angela over the fate of their sister and they battled. The battle only ended when a pillar almost fell on the baby and Angela protected her with her own body. Seeing she didn't want to hurt her own sister, Odinson helped Angela to get above the city's furnace, and then she threw her sister into it.
Furious by what Angela had just done, Odinson punched her on the face, but she quickly recovered from it and, claiming she was paying the debt of her existence to Heven by reigniting its engine with Surtur's fire, leaped into the furnace to rescue her sister. With Surtur's power siphoned from her, Angela's sister was starting to get her skin burned when Angela came to save her. She used the metal from her dress' wings to envelope and protect the girl, and, as she couldn't fly anymore, she walked through the furnace's fire to get through its door, located on its base, which was opened by her allies. Heavily burned, Angela, along with Sera, was taken prisoner by Freyja, who commanded the Asgardian army to retreat and took them back to Asgardia.
After the All-Mother told her her sister's name (Laussa) and the All-Father released her, Angela, who had received a mark on the palm of her hand which means "traitor", prepared to leave Asgardia.
It was then discovered that Sera was in Hel. Sera had made Malekith the Accursed into her vessel so that he could carry a message out to Angela. After Malekith told her what had become of Sera following her death, Angela decided to go to Hel to rescue her. Per a curse Freyja cast upon the Angels, a curse that sent the Angels' souls to Hel after their death to suffer eternally for what the Queen of Angels had done to her first born, Sera was trapped there. As soon as Angela arrived in Hel, Sera kissed and then attacked her for breaking the promise she had made. Angela apologized and said she would do anything to take Sera out of Hel, but Sera revealed her soul already belonged to the Realm of the Dead, making it impossible for her to be alive again, no matter where she went to. The only way to change that would be by changing the rules, which was only possible if Angela defeated Hela and claimed her throne.
However, if Angela wanted to succeed, she had to pass through three trials to acquire enough power to beat Hela in her own domain. Angela was helped by Sera in defeating the hordes of the dead and get to the first trial, which was fear. With the assistance of the person who cast a spell on her earlier, Angela was able to overcome her fear and defeat the Fear Avatar, becoming a Corival, an official challenger for Hel's throne, and gaining control over fear. Afterward, Angela was introduced by Sera to the person who helped her on the first trial, Leah of Hel.
To get to the second trial, Angela, Sera, and Leah had to pass through a whirlwind and pay with a memory of theirs. Needing an army, Angela engaged the Angel Meresyn - the very first living being Angela killed - in combat to convince the other enslaved Angels to help her against Hela. After winning the fight without killing Meresyn again, Angela went against her nature, allowing her to pass the second trial, that was chaos, which was now under her control. With an army by their side, Angela, Sera and Leah prepared to continue their quest when they were confronted by Balder the Brave, Tyr the God of War and Skurge the Executioner, guardians of Hela.
After defeating Hela's enforcers and what seemed to be her grandfather Bor, Angela and Sera had to pass the third trial, which was painful, both having to experience a life in which Angela never met Sera. Soon after passing the test, Angela was attacked by Hela and her army. In the ensuing battle, Angela used the powers she had acquired in the trials to overpower Hela and her army and managed to defeat her. Taking Hela's place as the new queen of Hel, with Sera as her Royal Consort, Angela pardoned Hela for her crimes against her sisters; broke the curse Freyja cast upon the Angels of Heven and gave them a sundered part of Hel as their new resting place; freed Leah from her fate; and gave Sera's life back to her. Angela then abdicated her role as queen, leaving Balder as the new regent of Hel to keep her new laws, and, after Meresyn told her that she discovered Loriel was alive, Angela went to live with Sera, Leah and Thori in New York City.
When strange murders started happening in New York, Angela was confronted by the new Thor, who thought Angela had something to do with it. They teamed up along with Leah and Sera to take down the real culprit. The Brotherhood of Badoon then kidnapped Angela and forced her on the prison planet. Gamora rallied the Guardians to save their friend and all other inmates of the prison planet. The group then went to save Star Lord on planet Moord from the Brotherhood of Badoon who had sentenced him to death. When Angela finally returned to Earth, Sera was nowhere to be found.
Afterward, Angela joined the League of Realms to invade Alfheim without the Congress of Worlds' support, and free Queen Aelsa Featherwine from captivity. Though they managed to save her, Ljosalfgard was burned down and Malekith's forces were still at large.
Desperate to find Sera's whereabouts, Angela went on a rampage across the universe looking for answers. When she entered a mysterious and forbidden place in the void of space, she encountered Kid Loki, a past incarnation of Loki that wasn't supposed to exist anymore. Kid Loki offered Angela help in locating Sera in exchange for her assistance in finding the Naglfar Beacon, a powerful weapon that he intended to use in the War of the Realms. To this end, Angela assembled a group of Asgardians that became known as the Asgardians of the Galaxy. The Asgardians tracked down the Naglfar Beacon, but lost it to the space pirate Nebula. They followed Nebula's trail and eventually secured the Naglfar Beacon from her, in the process stopping her from using the Naglfar Armada to raze the Earth.
Kid Loki fulfilled his part of the promise, and teleported the Asgardians to Ego the Living Planet, where Angela found Sera. She had become part of the Ravagers, a band of mercenaries that had taken upon themselves to protect a group of alien refugees that were being hunted down by the Raiders due to their natural ability to materialize their prayers into diamonds. Their reunion was cut short when the Raiders attacked the refugee camp, but they were eventually routed after Angela killed their leader. Angela tried to convince Sera to leave together, but Sera turned her down, arguing that she had found a purpose in protecting the refugees. Afterwards, the Ravagers and the Asgardians parted ways.
When the Asgardians of the Galaxy reached Asgard to safekeep the Naglfar Beacon, they were instead directed by Heimdall to go to Earth and help fend off Malekith's forces. During battle against the Angels of Heven in Kenya, Angela decided to put the Naglfar Beacon to use by summoning the Naglfar Armada on Heven. Angela's adoptive realm was ravaged by the undead army, and most of the Angels were massacred. The Queen of Angels also died, by Angela's hand. In her last moments, the Queen asked Angela to lead the surviving Angels. However, Angela refused to follow through with her final wish, and instead left the remaining Angels to fend by themselves, putting them in the same position where she had once been.
Subject Interview
THOOM THOOM THOOM
The metallic hull of the pirate space ship creaked and buckled slightly under each blow sustained. The men of the criminal empire the ship belonged to raced about in complete disarray. Their ship was already plummeting out of the sky and headed for a crash-landing, why were they still receiving damage. Alarms blared as emergency lights flashed, advanced warning systems to alert the crew to brace themselves for impact.
THOOM THOOM
The incessant banging would not let up and...was it getting louder?
The criminals all stampeded over one another, each trying to beat the next to the bay of escape bay to board a pod and flee from the doomed ship. Impact was imminent.
Metal squealed and twisted before being ripped asunder. The side of the ship was tore wide open, jagged bits of twisted metal jutted outward as an armored woman forced herself aboard. The first crew mate to happen upon her was cleaved clean in half by a heave of her sword. Blood slicked the metal floor as the Hunt Mistress moved on. Anyone she saw on the ship met her blade and their demise. The screams brought her peace but not in a mustache-twirling, demented way. Their screams kept her out of her own mind and pulled her up out of the grief she'd been drowning in for months.
The impact of the ship meeting with ground sent dirt and chunks of said ground exploding upward, parts of the space vessel exploded as well. Few escape pods had managed to dislodge from the ship and blast off before crashing. The pods didn't go far though, they didn't escape the alien world's atmosphere. Instead, they flew in a straight line toward the citadel that was ran by their crime empire. No doubt they sought reinforcements to deal with the Wingless-One.
Angela hacked her way out of the ship's hull. She dropped a good ten feet to the planets surface, landing with bent knees to absorb the force. Fiery red hair billowed in the crisp air behind her, her eyes narrowing on the ships that fled to the citadel.
"Run," the Odinspawn whispered to the winds whipping her hair across her scowled face. "Tell all who will listen, that the Angel of Death has come."
