Voodoo: As apparent by his namesake, Jericho is a master of voodoo and possesses numerous Mystical and Quasi-physical Powers derived from the Loa, the Spirit-Gods of Voodoo. He can can manipulate Magical/Mystical Forces, and Elemental Forces at his will. He can also summon Mystical Creatures to counter-attack Magical Attacks.
Pyrokinesis: He can become immune to fire by entering a trance. While entranced his body will not burn and he will not feel the heat. Jericho can also control fire and his skin becomes impervious to burning.
Smoke Manipulation: Doctor Voodoo is able to create a form of smoke or vapors that conceal his location. This smoke is accompanied by the sound of voodoo drums. The constant beat of the drums can disorient or unnerve an opponent. He can see through the smoke he forms, and possibly through other smoke created by magical means.
Healing: Doctor Voodoo can heal himself and others, through the use of Magic and Voodoo.The extent of his healing powers are unknown.
Houngan Supreme: Doctor Voodoo was chosen for the high mystical position of Sorcerer Supreme by the Eye of Agamotto. After becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, his houngan magical powers were significantly increased.
Hypnosis: Doctor Voodoo has a form of hypnotism. It is not very effective on humans; the more intelligent a being is the more strongly they can resist his control. However, it does work well on animals. It can also be used on plants and vegetation, but their lack of mobility makes their usefulness limited. The subject must be alive, and he can only concentrate on one being at a time.
Speaker to the Gods or Loa: Jericho can speak to the Loas, spirit-gods of voodoo.

Paraphernalia:
Staff of Legba - A mystical voodoo staff that is imbued with and channels voodoo energy, to be wielded by the most powerful Voodoo sorcerer.
Eye of Agamotto - A powerful magical artifact of the patron entity Agamotto, able to dispel illusion as well as reveal past events. The Eye can also unleash a light that is able to weaken evil spirits and entities. It has also been used for probing minds, powerful mystic barriers, levitating objects, placing beings into suspended animation, and creating portals.
Cloak of Levitation - A mystical cloak that once belonged to the Ancient One, allowing the wearer to levitate and fly up to 25 miles per hour.
Orb of Agamotto - Normally used for scrying, the orb is a creation of Agamotto and directly powered by him extra-dimensionally. The orb can pinpoint possible dangers, allow teleportation to other locations as well as Agamotto’s personal dimension, as well as peer into other realms and worlds. While the orb usually takes on the appearance of the Earth to display locals, it can also mimic other planets and realms if the user is familiar with them. Though powerful, the orb can be blocked by powerful mages even of lesser strength than Amagotto who do not want their locations revealed.

Magic exhaustion: Using magic is like using any physical muscle, overuse can become taxing and in the worst cases cause injury if the user is not prepared or well rested.

Human: He possesses a human soul and human body, Doctor Voodoo is still plenty mortal.

Subject History

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Jericho's family would immigrate to the US shortly after. Jericho would, in turn, return to his native-born Haiti after 12 years of schooling and practice as a psychologist in the states. His return to Haiti was not a pleasant one as Jericho soon learned that his twin brother, and local houngan, Daniel was dying, supposedly of a voodoo curse laid upon him by the dark spirit Damballah. Originally a skeptic, Jericho agreed to visit a witchdoctor by the name of Papa Jambo, as it was his dying brother's wish. Under Papa Jambo, Jericho learned the world of voodoo to be truth and almost instantly he became the witchdoctor's pupil in learning all that he could in the arts of Houngan.

In no time at all Jericho proved proficient and exceptional at his new skill, Jambo realized he was much more of a natural than his twin brother had been. Papa Jambo could see the great potential within Jericho and to inflate his powers more the spirit of Daniel Drumm was brought from the dead and joined with Jericho's own soul. In Jericho, Papa Jambo had found his successor and left the mortal coil, naming Jericho Brother Voodoo in his place. As Brother Voodoo he went on the squash the cult that was responsible for laying the curse that killed his bother and solidified himself as the Houngan of Haiti.

As a great and powerful Houngan, Brother Voodoo went on journeys that took him to Brazil, and New York and everywhere in between, creating a name for himself outside of Haiti along the way. At one point Brother Voodoo fell to the allure of an artifact that belonged to the evil god Damballah, and wearing it allowed Damballah to take possession of his former greatest foe. While possessing Brother Voodoo, Damballah traveled to New York in hopes of taking and controlling the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange, however Strange was too powerful as he eventually broke Damballah's hold over Voodoo and with his aid the two magic men cast Damballah back into his artifact.


Brother Voodoo's career became more US-centric over the years and he would eventually lead SHIELD's newest incarnation of the Howling Commandos. During this period Jericho registered with the Superhuman Registration Act. At some point, he was replaced by a Skrull. While Black Panther was fighting Erik Killmonger, the Skrull Brother Voodoo revealed himself when he attempted to kill Cannibal, whom he deemed to be a threat. However, the two killed each other in the struggle and the discovery of "Brother Voodoo's" true Skrull form proved to be the crucial point of revealing the Skrull invasion.

After the invasion of the Skrulls, Jericho was able to resume his life as Brother Voodoo, soon witnessing Agamotto who revealed himself through his eye. Dr. Strange knew he lost the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme for some time and that the Eye of Agamotto would appear to the person that would replace him. The Eye had left Strange after showing himself and the New Avengers nearly 30 candidates for his replacement. Along with the New Avengers, Doctor Strange traveled to New Orleans where he believed The Hood was trying to kill the new Sorcerer Supreme before he or she could take their rightful place and claim the Eye.

The Hood fought Daimon Hellstrom to the point where the infernal side of him becomes dominant. Dr. Strange then appeared, in that moment assuming that Daimon Hellstrom was going to be the new Sorcerer Supreme. He tells him to run so that Dormammu could not come into possession of the Eye. But Daimon quickly reveals he does not have the Eye. Brother Voodoo then emerges from the ruins created by Damion and the Hood-Dormmamu's fight. Jericho had come to New Orleans to intervene in the onslaught between Dormammu and The Hood against Doctor Strange and the New Avengers. Brother Voodoo is seen to possess the Eye of Agamotto, and thus revealed to be the new Sorcerer Supreme.

Voodoo joins the Avengers, Strange and Hellstorm battle The Hood who has fully turned into Dormammu. Together they are able to defeat him and the three magic users banish Dormammu and depower The Hood completely. It is after the fight, live on national television, that Clint Barton bestows Jericho with the new moniker Doctor Voodoo.

Voodoo accepts his new role and begin tutelage under the former Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange. He travels to the Dark Dimension to seal Dormammu for his recent assault using The Hood and returns home where his brother and Strange scold him for not resting in a week, but shows the Doctor mystical items he has collected in his work. Strange reminds him of the dangers of dark magic and Voodoo reminds Stephen he is not Sorcerer Supreme anymore and Strange leaves.

After a chain of events that leave the dimensional boundaries of the entire Marvel universe severely weakened, Voodoo and Hellstorm both become possessed by a demonic entity. The entity reveals itself to be none other than Agamotto who seeks to reclaim his eye. Agamotto had been cast out of the Vishanti and stripped of all power, driving the god-like entity mad and so he attacks Voodoo and the New Avengers. However, Jericho is able to use the Eye, the one artifact that can harm Agamotto, and destroys it, Agamotto, and himself.

During the effects of the Inversion, which has turned some heroes bad and some villains good, Doctor Doom strikes a deal to resurrect Doctor Voodoo, who he believes is the only one who can possess a villainized Scarlet Witch in order to have her take part in a conjuration of a “reinversion” spell. Doctor Voodoo is key in taking down the inverted Iron Man while Scarlet Witch, possessed by Daniel Drumm, and Doctor Doom fulfill the spell to undo the Inversion. In the aftermath Jericho joins the Avengers Unity Division.

Because of a second superhuman Civil War, tensions are high throughout the world and the hero community, fracturing the newly formed Unity Division. During this time Daniel Drumm is resurrected, followed by him confronting and stabbing Jericho, having grown tired of waiting for his brother to resurrect him. Daniel reveals he has made a deal with the Hand to be resurrected and in exchange he has given them the location of Bruce Banner’s grave.

Doctor Voodoo escapes his brother and warns the remaining members of the Unity Division of the Hand’s plans to resurrect and turn the Hulk into their weapon. The Division is able to force Hulk into containment via a spell cast by Voodoo, who then works to free Banner’s spirit and return him to rest. However, a demon working with the Hand informs Doctor Voodoo that freeing Bruce Banner’s spirit of their influence will only result in them claiming his brother’s instead. Jericho is unmoved, believing that Banner is a true bother and Daniel has damned himself, and so he continues his spell and allows Bruce to return to his grave.

When the Cosmic Cube became sentient, in the form of a child named Kobik, she used her powers to create an alternate Steve Rogers that was loyal too HYDRA. HYDRA used this false Captain America to take over the United States of America. They also planned to eliminate as many heroes as they could in the process, using a menagerie of villains to attack Manhattan and lure in the heroes. The Unity Division, along with many other superheroes, answered the call to defend the city. All villains were then teleported away while Baron Zemo used the boosted abilities of the super villain Blackout to trap the city and heroes under an impenetrable dome of blackness.

While the Division was trapped in the Darkforce dome battling it out with nightmare creatures from the Darkforce dimension, any and all heroes left outside of the dome convened to deal with the villains and evil Captain HYDRA. The dome was only lifted after the death of Blackout and once again Doctor Voodoo and the Unity Division were free.

Following a fight with the villain Graviton that destroyed much of Avengers Mansion, Scarlet Witch joined the Unity Division despite some initial reluctance from Rogue, who felt Wanda was a magnet for chaos and for the role she played in HYDRA’s takeover of America, though she was possessed at the time. At this time Jericho and Wanda began a romantic relationship. After aiding the U.S.Avengers and the main Avengers team in solving a global crisis caused by the Grandmaster and the Challenger turning the Earth into a game board for their cosmic game, the Unity Division chose to disband.

The beating of drums seemed to come from out of nowhere, yet coming from everywhere all at once. The otherwise clear night fell under a quickened haze as smoke began to roll between the brickwalls of alleyways. There were three individuals in the alley, two of them on the ground and looking a bit worse for wear. The remaining figure glanced around at the smoke swirling around the group of them, though unlike the other two who looked anxious and confused, this person knew exactly what was going on.

"Spirit." A voice called forth from the dark cloud. A tall man dressed in a dark cloak stepped seemingly out of nothingness, his eyes glowed beneath white paint before the rest of him finally became visible. The spirit that Jericho identified looked on him with seething rage, that was only barely hidden beneath the look of disgust.

"Filthy, jungle magician." If ghosts could, this one would have hissed.

Jericho moved forward without taking a step, his cloak carrying him to reach the floating height of the evil spirit. Doctor Voodoo paused for a moment to glance down at the couple cowering on the ground, his glare conveyed enough for them to gather their wits and scamper off out of the mouth of the alley. His attention then returned to the spirit, a faint lilac field of energy growing around his hands.

"I am Jericho Drumm, Houngan Supreme. You may call me what you wish, but you will respect the title!" The glow engulfing Jericho's hands brightened almost violently. The spirit shrank backward upon instinct but the deceased would not be so easily swayed as the ghost resumed its opposing posture.

"The sorcerer who condemns his own brother to Hell dares to threaten me? You are right about one thing, jungle magician, I will call you what I wish and I wish to call you DEAD!"

The ghostly figure outstretched his arms for Drumm and shot off toward the Houngan. Doctor Voodoo clenched his jaws as his eyes flooded with white light, and he threw his arms out before his chest.

"I hold court with the Lords of the Dead and wield their magics to hold dominion over poor souls like you. I, Doctor Voodoo, can open doorways to realms where you might find your peace, however, by your own insolence and the will of the Loa, I condemn thee to the Swamps of Ogun!"

The spirit squirmed and tried to fight against the violet light that had suddenly become its prison, and Voodoo its warden. Jericho's cloak fluttered and beat against the wind as strong gusts whipped about because of the magical power he exerted. Green light opened our dimension to the next and in an instant the spirit was no more, cursed to the lowest plane of existence in the underworld.

The mystical winds that had kicked up settled at once, Voodoo's cloak and dreadlocks coming to rest at his back once more as his feet finally met with the ground. Dark smoke crept from the black corners of the alley, swallowing Jericho completely, leaving only the sound of the beating drums in his wake.
