Subject History
Peter Benjamin Parker was born in Queens, NY., to Richard and Mary Parker. Orphaned at a young age and raised by Ben and May Parker. Peter’s scholastic interests frequently made him a social outcast, and a easy target at Midtown High School. However, he continued to study and develop hobbies, proving that he is indeed a child prodigy.
One day while attending a public science exhibition, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider and felt instantly ill from it. He decided to leave the exhibition and make his way back home. Peter was astounded when he realized that he had in fact avoided certain death by leaping out of the way of an oncoming vehicle and sticking to a wall on a nearby building. It confirmed that he did acquire spider powers and abilities. Shortly after this discovery, Peter began to test out his newfound powers. Parker designed and developed his first suit, mask, and a pair of web-shooters with adhesive fluid inspired by a spider’s silky web.
The opportunity to test his spider powers, and abilities presented itself when he entered a local wrestling competition. Peter easily defeated the defending champion. He was given the moniker ‘Spider-Man’, becoming a instant sensation. Overwhelmed at the idea of being able to take care of both May and Ben Parker. Peter continued to use his alter ego for that purpose. Spider-Man became a personal favorite target of J.J Jameson owner of the Daily Bugle. The newspapers campaign labeled Spider-Man a menace to society.
Peter Parker’s life change drastically, when he purposely allowed a burglar to escape from being arrested by the police rather than to help capture him. It was Spider-Man’s first televised appearance. Later that night, when he returned home, Peter learned of Uncle Ben’s murder at the hands of a burglar. That same night, Parker learned the police had cornered the man responsible for his Uncle’s death in a nearby warehouse. Peter donned in his Spider-Man suit and was determined to avenge Uncle Ben’s death. Peter vowed never to use his powers for his own personal gain.
Spider-Man quickly tracked down the criminal and learned it was the same burglar he had let escape earlier. Peter was overcome with mixed feelings, his desire to avenge Uncle Ben and to do the right thing. Spider-Man easily captured the criminal and brought him to justice. Peter returned home with a sense of purpose to do more as Spider-Man. From that day on he abandoned his media star persona and began to fight crime as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Peter’s personal life as well as his education began to suffer . Unable to find work and cash-in on the money he had made as Spider-Man. His double life began taking a heavy toll on him. As he continued to juggle the meaning of “with great power comes great responsibility”, Spider-Man would save the life of J.J Jameson’s son, John Jameson from a space rocket launch gone wrong. Later, Peter thought joining the Fantastic Four would be a great idea. Unlike Peter, the four heroes made their identities public and were rewarded for their heroics. He infiltrated the Baxter building, only to find himself battling the four superheroes. The F4 refused to accept him and explained that they work as a family without expecting any form of payment for their actions. Peter was determined to find a way to help Aunt May financially.
It was during this time that Peter crossed paths with the Chameleon. Soon after Spider-Man’s heroics, and news of his breaking and entering the Fantastic Four’s HQ. The Chameleon devised a plan to frame Spider-Man for the theft of the schematics he so desperately wanted. Spider-Man realized that it was all a trap orchestrated by the Chameleon. The Chameleon was eventually captured, his plan to frame Spider-Man paid off, as everyone believed Spider-Man was behind it all. This outcome served to fuel the Daily Bugle’s campaign to make Spider-Man public enemy number one.
Peter Parker continued his crime fighting as Spider-Man despite facing other difficulties as a teenager. Spider-Man battles the Vulture and defeated him with ease, Peter delivered the photos to the Daily Bugle and was hired on the spot. It wouldn’t take long before Spider-Man faced off against other villains, defeating the likes of Electro, Mysterio, Dr. Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, Scorpion, and the Green Goblin. It was Doctor Octopus who would later create the Sinister Six after countless defeats against Spider-Man. The new super villain group now determined to end Spider-Man’s life, kidnapped Aunt May and Peter’s former love interest Betty Brant. The Sinister Six’s grand plan failed, Spider-Man defeated all six one by one.
Peter graduated from Midtown High School and enrolled at Empire State University with a science scholarship. It was here where he would meet his roommate and best friend Harry Osborn. At ESU, Peter would also meet classmate Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson, whom he had previously been encouraged to date at the suggestion of Aunt May and MJ’s aunt Anna Watson. He continued to juggle his double life, and go on to meet and team up with Daredevil and the Human Torch.
The Green Goblin returned with the purpose to discover Spider-Man’s true identity by stalking and kidnapping him. Spider-Man faced off against the Green Goblin after the villain revealed his own true identity. Norman Osborn would lose the battle and all memories of his time as the Green Goblin and Peter’s secret as a result of their furious brawl. New supervillains would soon emerge, Spider-Man cunningly defeated his foes regularly. Spider-Man teamed up with Dr. Strange to take down the wizard known as Xandu. The Avengers noticed Spider-Man’s potential and invited him to join but Peter refused as he was still figuring things out. Finally, Peter started dating Gwen Stacy and focused on his education. He would soon begin to rethink his heroics as Spider-Man, thinking the city didn’t need him nor appreciated his good deeds. Peter decides he’s done being Spider-Man.
Peter would learn the whole truth behind the death of his parents and their secret lives when he came across some records at Aunt May’s place. Some time passed, Peter’s happy life didn’t last long, Spider-Man’s absence gave way to more villains. J.J Jameson had been kidnapped by a man known as the Kingpin. Peter briefly struggled with the decision to be Spider-Man again, concluding that it was his responsibility to be a hero no matter what. Spider-Man saved J.J Jameson. However, Kingpin had taken the Tablet of Life and Time which was being exhibited at ESU. The artifact now wanted by every supervillain to every petty criminal that had heard of it. Spider-Man teamed up with the Human Torch to take down the Kingpin, Silvermane and the Lizard.
Soon after these events, Doctor Octopus returned and Spider-Man thwarted his plans once again. Doctor Octopus now equipped with much stronger set of metallic arms attacked Spider-Man by surprise. Their intense battle took place on a rooftop and Captain Stacy, Gwen Stacy’s father tragically died while saving a child from falling debris. Before dying, Captain Stacy admitted that he knew Spider-Man’s identity and asked Peter to take care of Gwen. Peter was devastated, and the city blamed Spider-Man for George Stacy’s death. He was wanted by the authorities and faced against other heroes who wanted to capture him and bring him in. Spider-Man proved his innocence to those heroes. Peter managed to save his relationship with Gwen.
Determined to quit being Spider-Man feeling responsible for the death of George Stacy. Peter studied and researched for a cure, he creates a formula to erase all traces of the spider’s radiation in his DNA. The formula only worked to mutate him, giving him four extra arms on his sides. Desperate to revert this, he asks Dr. Connor for help in return he helps the doctor become the Lizard again. Spider-Man encountered more villains in this mutated form. Peter eventually returned to normal. During this time things got worse for Peter’s best friend, Harry Osborn. Harry became addicted to drugs, Peter with the help of MJ and Gwen took care of him.
Everything started going well for Peter as well as his alter-ego Spider-Man. However, Norman Osborn’s alter-ego resurfaced as a result of the stress of seeing his son in such a bad state. The Green Goblin kidnapped Gwen Stacy and waited for Spider-Man at the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, where the Goblin was holding Gwen. Spider-Man pleaded for the safety release of Gwen. The Goblin and Spider-Man clash, realizing he’s losing the battle the Goblin hurls Gwen off the bridge giving him time to escape. Spider-Man shoots a web strand at her legs and catches her. As he pulls her up, he thinks he has saved her, however he quickly realizes she is dead. Uncertain whether her neck was broken by the whiplash from her sudden stop or had been already broken by the Goblin prior to her fall, Peter blamed himself for her death. Distraught and furious, Spider-Man hunted down the Goblin and proceeded to beat him to near death. During their battle the Goblin was impaled with his own glider thus dying in front of Peter.
After this tragic event, Peter reflected on his failures to save the Stacys. This chain of events would propel him in to a case of PTSD. The public believed without a shadow of a doubt that Spider-Man was a menace to society. Peter found some comfort in a friendship with Mary J. Watson. Harry Osborn, who had perceived Spider-Man’s identity and wanted revenge for his father’s death would take on the role of the Green Goblin. Spider-Man was faced with the difficult task to fight his best friend and saved Aunt May, MJ and Flash Thompson. All three had been kidnapped by the Goblin in an attempt to kill Spider-Man. Spider-Man easily defeated the new Goblin, leaving him to the authorities.
After weeks of grieving, Peter resumed his double life, working for the Daily Bugle and even began a serious relationship with MJ. Later, he would discover Gwen Stacy was alive which would lead to the truth behind her revival. Stacy was a clone created by the Jackal whose real name is Miles Warren, Peter’s professor at ESU. Warren blamed and hated Spider-Man for Stacy’s death and wanted Spider-Man dead. The Jackal also created a Peter Parker clone which he groomed to kill the real Spider-Man. As the battle raged on, Gwen reasoned with the Jackal as he watched and waited for the bomb to explode and kill Spider-Man and the clone. Warren saw the error of his ways and died in the blast radius. The Gwen Stacy clone left New York, and Peter disposed of his clone. Uncertain whether he was the original Peter Parker, he asked Dr. Connor for help and had his DNA tested but never read the results. His feelings for MJ assured him that he was indeed the real Peter Parker.
A third Green Goblin would emerge, and would die at the hands of Harry. It was revealed that this Goblin was Harry’s psychologist. Peter and MJ’s relationship came to a halt after she rejected his proposal of marriage. Peter now living alone spent more time fighting villains as Spider-Man and would get romantically involved with the Black Cat.
Some time passed by, and news of certain superheroes disappearing made headlines. Spider-Man was transported from New York and into Battleworld, a planet created by the Beyonder. A battle royal contest to test out Earth’s superheroes versus supervillains. During these events, Spider-Man donned a new suit thanks to the damages to his red and blue tights caused in the first encounter against the villains. The suit which would be referred to as the symbiote morphed around Peter’s body, and he was able to rejoin the battle. The good guys came out victorious and most of the heroes and villains were returned back to Earth.
Spider-Man was back in black, his spider powers now enhanced at incomprehensible levels. Spider-Man and Daredevil would team up to solve the mystery of the Sin-Eater. Peter would soon realize that the suit was the cause of so many strange occurrences in his life. He sought help from Mr. Fantastic in order to better understand the suit. Through intensive research, Reed Richards discovered the suit was a living organism and helped Peter with removing the symbiote by force. Mr. Fantastic encased it, but it wouldn’t take long for the symbiote to escape and find its way back to Peter. Spider-Man improvised a plan to remove the suit for good. The symbiote now weak and dying, would find a perfect host in Eddie Brock. This mutual partnership created Venom. Spider-Man faced against this new threat and managed to defeat Venom.
Peter Parker continued to protect New York, and the list of enemies continued to increase. Peter and Mary Jane would finally tie the knot not without its difficulties thanks to the reappearance of the Spider-Slayer. Spider-Man worked along side the Avengers, helping Earth’s Mightiest Heroes stop an invasion and subsequent breakout of the energy research and villain internment facility, Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. The Avengers welcomed and accepted Spider-Man on a provisional basis because of his nature as a superhero.
Peter’s life returned to normal, or the closest thing to happiness. Parker returned to his studies and postgraduate work as lab assistant at ESU. Spider-Man again battled Kraven the Hunter and lost. Kraven would then take on the role of Spider-Man calling himself The Spider-Man with the intention to be a better superhero. Peter would spend two weeks under the effects of the tranquilizer Kraven shot him with. Peter reunited with MJ, and later tracked down Kraven the Hunter. Refusing to let Kraven use him and the supervillain Vermin for his sick personal entertainment, Vermin proceeds to attack and overwhelm Spider-Man. Kraven steps in to help Peter, who then goes after Vermin in order to stop him before he harms innocent lives. It would be the last time that Spider-Man and Kraven the Hunter came face to face. With Vermin and Kraven’s confession in the hands of the police, Peter looked forward to a happy life with Mary Jane Watson-Parker.
Venom would once again attempt to destroy Spider-Man, only to lose yet again thanks to the Fantastic Four, specifically Mr. Fantastic’s invention. Venom was sent to the super prison the Vault, only to escape within days. Spider-Man’s wit was more than enough to capture, defeat and send Venom back to the Vault again.
Things seemed to be going well for Peter for a while, until he received news that Aunt May suffered a debilitating heart attack. Mary Jane announced her pregnancy and later lost the baby in premature labor. A Peter clone emerged going by the name of Ben Reilly. Ben Reilly had been living off the radar and created a suit known as the Scarlet Spider and joined Spider-Man in his adventures for many months to come. Peter would pass on the torch to Ben Reilly, moving out of New York with MJ. A series of events broke out around the globe effecting the lives of almost everyone on Earth, with the loss of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers suffering losses and momentarily disbanding. Peter returned to New York.
Norman Osborn would also return thanks to his regenerating healing factor, which he developed during experiments performed on himself. Norman was responsible for MJ’s miscarriage, orchestrating Aunt May’s fake death and falsifying Peter’s DNA test that convinced him that he was the clone. Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider battled the Green Goblin resulting in Ben Reilly sacrificing himself. Later, Norman Osborn returned to finish what he started. In a long on and off battle, Spider-Man finally defeats the original Green Goblin. It would take Peter some time and hard work to repair the damages done by the senior Osborn.
As if things couldn’t get any worse, Spider-Man encountered another symbiote going by the name Carnage. He barely escapes with his life, he then decides to assemble a team to take on Carnage and his companions. Breaking the promise he had made to MJ to never be Spider-Man again. Ultimately, it is Venom the one who defeats Carnage. Mary Jane distanced herself from Peter, unable to deal with his double life and the risks. Peter and Mary Jane later reconciled.
Peter Parker, now employed as a teacher at Midtown High School meets a man by the name Ezekiel Sims. The man explained to Peter that both are connected to a much larger mystical world and share the gift of spider powers. Ezekiel and Spider-Man set out to uncover the whole truth behind the Spider-Totems and encounter the Gatekeeper, eventually Ezekiel sacrifices his life to save Peter. A shaman buried Ezekiel’s body and reassured Peter why he was gifted with amazing powers. Now back in New York, Spider-Man escapes a near death encounter against Morlun and Dex. May Parker would soon discover her nephew is Spider-Man, slowly improving their relationship.
Months after the disbandment of the Avengers and other major events involving superheroes and mutants alike. Peter joined forces with a group of heroes he encountered in the R.A.F.T., while fighting to contain a massive breakout. This group of superheroes would take on the name New Avengers. Peter underwent changes that enhanced his spider-powers, but were no match for Morlun. Peter is rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and is again attacked by Morlun who wanted to feast on Parker’s energy. MJ attempted to stop Morlun, who effortlessly throws her across the room and also breaks her arm. Peter suddenly wakes up and kills Morlun in a blind fit of rage in front of Mary Jane. Parker now weak and dying after having used his remaining strength, slowly turned into dust. The world would never find out about Spider-Man’s death thanks to Tony Stark.
Days after the tragic event, a voice awakens Peter who is revived on the condition that he accepts his destiny; Spider-Man is the yin to Peter Parker’s yang. Peter returns to a normal life but remains in a state of confusion and somewhat of an identity crisis since his rebirth. In addition to his spider powers, he’s endowed with a set of enhanced abilities.
A new world was dawning on the horizon, the news of the awful tragic incident in Connecticut shocked the U.S government. With everyone watching, the government with the support of Iron Man would pass into law the SHRA. A growing unease about the Superhuman Registration Act divides the country, Team Iron Man versus Team Captain America. From the beginning Spider-Man sides with Iron Man and those who are Pro-Registration, believing and fighting for the cause. Tony urges Peter to go public with his secret identity which he does. The government now backed by the registered superheroes hunt and track down those who oppose the SHRA. Peter soon realized that fighting against the fugitives, the discovery of a concentration camp-styled prison facility and Tony’s creation of a Thor clone proved to be more than what he bargained. Peter confronts Tony and a battle ensues, with Tony having the upper hand and defeating Spider-Man.
Peter managed to escape underground and is pursued by the new Thunderbolts, a group of registered villains. Spider-Man eludes the group but is ambushed by Jack O’Lantern and the Jester, beaten almost to the point of death. Peter is rescued by Frank Castle and taken deep underground to be treated by the Secret Avengers. Spider-Man fully recovers and fights alongside the Secret Avengers led by Captain America. He is reunited with MJ and aunt May, Peter delivers a public announcement by sabotaging a news broadcast to denounce the SHRA.
As the final battle culminated in the streets of New York, causing massive destruction, injuries and deaths. Captain America and Iron Man were at the center of the storm, with each devastating blow closer to victory, Captain America surrendered and ordered Spider-Man and the Secret Avengers to do the same. Captain America was arrested and tried for his crimes in court. He is later assassinated, and his funeral is attended by almost every superhero in order to pay their respects. Peter mourned the loss of Steve Rogers, blamed himself for his death and for not being present during the trial. The SHRA was eventually abolished.
Some time passed after the Civil War, Peter’s now public identity painted a target on his back. The Kingpin hired and sent assassins after Peter, but instead it was May who’d be on the receiving end of a bullet meant for Peter. Peter uncovers the Kingpin is behind the assassination attempt on his life, filled with rage proceeds to battle Wilson Fisk. Parker, desperate to save May, exhausts all possibilities makes a pact with the demon lord Mephisto. As part of the deal, everyone would forget Peter’s identity as Spider-Man, his marriage to MJ and those memories would be forever gone. Mephisto rearranged Peter’s life, May was now safe and alive, his relationship with MJ also changed but they stayed together.
Peter continued protecting New York, facing off against his enemies and dispatching them one way or another. He returned to work for the Daily Bugle under a new publisher but soon switches to the alternative press paper The Front Line. Parker’s life and the lives of those around him continue to change for the better, not without its struggles. Peter was right where he wanted to be even though things were now different. Spider-Man fought alongside the Avengers once again, and later defeated The Queen who succeeded in transforming humans into spiders. Peter with the help of the superheroes cured every human and would go on to meet Madame Web who warns him that he is to suffer a loss.
A series of events propelled Peter into another dimension where he met Miles Morales who was the Spider-Man of that Earth and teamed up with the Spider-Army. Spider-Man and the multiverse defeated the new threat and everyone returned to their own dimensions. Later, back in his own dimension Peter was shocked to discover there was indeed another Miles Morales. Peter biggest challenge during his tenure as a billionaire CEO of his own company came with the appearance of a biotech company. Doctor Octopus and the Jackal reemerged but their plans fell apart, Peter was left to deal with the consequences of these events.
Peter’s life was back to normal or what he considered the norm, adjusting all aspects of his life. Parker became romantically involved again with Mary Jane. A fresh new start.
Subject Interview
New York City had everything any person could ever want. New Yorkers are known for handling everything that comes their way, from criminals, to superheroes, disasters, costly expenses and high rent. Twenty-four hours and seven days a week of nonstop fun for most, and that was usually a plus. Spider-Man mused as he swung past a building.
Why do they always run?
I can’t believe that after years of doing this, they never learn.
I guess the money I get for these photos will go towards the rent.
It was a Saturday night, the city boomed with activity. While his uncle’s death was the big reason he became Spider-Man to fight crime, there were other reasons as well. Peter liked it. There was so much freedom to putting on the mask and fighting criminals. Swinging and diving, he felt the adrenaline course through his body, leaping from building to building in a blur. At the peak of the pendulum arc, he released his grip, and took in the brief sensation of flight, and then landed flat on the brick surface of a building.
I hope they don’t cut off the electricity.
I should be more worried about how I’m going to explain my absence to MJ. She’s going to kill me.. Come on Peter, focus!
Sitting on a corner ledge, he scanned the buildings, the streets and sidewalks glowing from the lampposts and found nothing. He tugged at an uneven fold in his mask that had been making the back of his neck itch. Aahh.. In the quiet he had no one to talk to, he could always count on the villains to provide him with silly threats. He listened carefully, eventually picking up on the commotion around the corner. He was glad to know the spider-tracer he latched onto the getaway vehicle led him to the criminals. Peter smiled behind the mask.
How classy, bad guys meeting in a quiet part of town in a dark and abandoned warehouse.
Never change my friends.
It’s showtime.
Just as he had said those words to himself, regretting the delivery, he quickly thought about other catchy phrases to use for future references. Taking the quickest way into the warehouse through an old and damaged window, he watched the thugs from the shadows while hanging upside down. Peter set the camera in place, his mind went to work not looking forward to being shot at, he waited for the right moment to strike.
