Subject Attributes
Superhuman Abilities:
Valkyrie's Physiology: Undrjarn the All-Weapon, a gift of the Valkyries, has granted Jane Foster an Asgardian physiology and other abilities common among the Valkyries. She is capable of the following feats:
Superhuman Strength: Jane possesses superhuman strength like all Asgardians. While not on a par with the Odinson, Foster is still capable of lifting things as heavy as a car.
Superhuman Speed: As Valkyrie, Jane is capable of moving beyond the physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Durability: Like all Asgardians, Jane is much more durable than humans, and is capable of withstanding damage that would kill many outright.
Enhanced Vision: Jane has the ability to see and detect things that are not visible to normal human eyes. She can also see the spirits of the fallen, and is capable of interacting with them on some level.
Death Perception: Foster can sense the coming of death, and it often manifests itself as a 'deathmark' hovering near individuals close to passing.
Teleportation: Utilising the spirits of the Valkyrie, Jane can teleport herself between realms - she can theoretically take others with her on her journey, though finds it both mentally and physically taxing.
Flight: Undrjarn is capable of manifesting itself as angelic wings, granting Jane the power of flight.
Standard Abilities:
Trained Doctor: Before becoming a hero, Jane Foster was a talented doctor. As such, she is familiar with medicines and medical terms, and has provided medical care to a number of heroes.
Norse Studies: Thanks to her time spent working with Asgardians, Jane knows an awful lot about the realm of Asgard and the cities of the Aesir.
Former Host Of Lady Sif: Jane's fighting knowledge comes from her formerly being the human host of the Lady Sif. While the pair have been separated for quite some time, occasionally memories of their bonding surface.
Paraphernalia:
Valkyrie's Vambrace / Undrjarn the All-Weapon:: Undrjarn the All-Weapon was forged of the remains of an alternate-Earth's Mjolnir, and infused with the spirits of fallen Valkyries. Undrjarn is disguised as a vambrace, but when called upon, has the power to transform Jane between her human appearance, and that of a Valkyrie, warping her clothing and physical presence in a flash of lightning. Undrjarn is then capable of manifesting physical items - warping its shape into various weapons or pieces of armour in order to take any form its wielder wishes. It is using Undrjarn that Jane is capable of manifesting weapons and wings.
Subject Weaknesses:
Mortal: As she is painfully aware, Jane is mortal, and suffers all the weaknesses that entails.
Empowered: Jane's powers come from Undrjarn the All-Weapon and the spirits of fallen Valkyries. Without her vambrace, Jane could well find herself depowered and possessing no strengths beyond those of an average human.
Transformation: Jane is forced to use Undrjarn to transform between her more 'human' form and that of her Valkyrie alter-ego. She only gains the benefits of her Asgardian physiology (strength, durability and speed) when physically altered.
In Recovery: As a human, Jane is still recovering from her long battle with cancer. While it is thought to be in remission, she is still physically weaker than she once was, and is suffering from the mental and physical toll a fight with the illness entails.
Subject History
Jane Foster was raised by a single father, having lost her mother to cancer at the age of 9. Desperate to provide for his daughter, he worked two jobs, paying for private tutoring throughout high school, and then funded her through medical school, exhausting himself in the processs. Whether linked to his work ethic or otherwise, he suffered a heart attack shortly after Jane's graduation, leaving her without much in the way of family.
Taking after her father, Jane threw herself whole-heartedly into everything she did, and was hired by Dr Donald Blake to work alongside him at a private medical facility. Unbeknownst to Jane, Donald Blake was the human form inhabited by the God of Thunder, Thor - a fact that would remain hidden from Foster for many years. As a duo, they accomplished much – their earliest and most notable accomplishment was providing medical aid and care to those injured in the San Diablo civil war.
As time passed, and Thor became more active in Midgard, Jane found herself infatuated with him. She often spoke of the thunder god's exploits to Dr Blake, who found their conversations on the matter frustrating. Indeed, as a 'human' cripple, he felt Foster would reciprocate the feelings he'd held for her because she was far too interested in his alter ego.
The truth, however, was that Foster had feelings for both. She was attracted to Blake's kindness and genius, though Thor's physical appearance and confidence also drew her. Not knowing they were one and the same, she struggled with the conundrum for some time. During this period, she was constantly assailed by the Thunderer's enemies, those who knew Donald and Thor were linked. She was captured by Loki, endangered by Hyde and tormented by the Enchantress. Despite the constant danger she faced, Jane never left Donald's employ – the only other job she took was under a Doctor Bruce Andrews, though it was a short-lived post that quickly saw her return to her former station.
Facing Thor's enemies so often saw Jane and the Asgardian grow closer. Indeed, Thor petitoned on numerous occasions to reveal his identity to the Jane in the hopes of marrying her, though every request was refused by Odin the All-Father. Foster was not mortal, and therefore not a fitting bride.
Eventually, Thor defied his father's wishes – causing both Foster and the God of Thunder to be transported to Asgard. There, Jane was given a task: if she could live as an Asgardian godess, she would prove herself to be a worthy wife. Inbued with superhuman powers, Foster struggled to come to terms with the changes she faced, and was bewildered by Asgard itself. Though enjoying the feeling of strength that accompanied her changed situations, Jane also missed what made her human and the life she'd left behind. Declaring she'd failed his test, Odin stripped her of Godhood and returned her to Earth, wiping her memories of his son, taking from her the emotions she'd felt for so long, and sent her to work with a physician named Keith Kincaid.
Thor was kept in Asgard, and Odin demanded the Thunderer reunite with the Lady Sif, whom his son had once loved. Their relationship was rekindled, and Jane and Keith also found themselves falling for one another.
However, Thor and Jane were not to remain seperated for long. Within a year, Foster had fallen sick, and in the delerium that accompanied her illness, called out for Thor to save her. Sif, who knew how much Jane meant to her beloved, took the staff of Kamo Tharnn and used it to infuse her life-force into the human's, thus saving Foster. Sif vanished, and Jane regained all of her former memories.
Falling for one another all over again, the pair returned to their previous pattern of work: where Donald Blake and Thor went, Jane followed. Indeed, she had become far more adventurous and bold since Sif's spirit had merged with her own, though whether this was the Asgardian's influence of a natural side of Jane not seen before, Thor was unsure.
They spent time on both Asgard (where Jane's form took on Sif's appearance) and on Earth, and accomplished much. However, Foster's disappearance was noted by Keith Kincaid, who eventually launched an investigation into her whereabouts. Moved by his persistance to find her, Jane (now permanently appearing as Sif) and Thor revealed their dual idenities to Kincaid. Fearing that Jane had been lost due to Sif's dominance, the trio travelled to Kamo Tharnn, and the two women were eventually seperated. Back in their own bodies, Sif returned to Thor, and Jane quickly married Keith.
From that point on, Jane's life underwent a period of normalcy that she hadn't previously experienced. Despite facing danger at the hands of Zaniac, Foster had a happy marriage, and gave birth to a young son named 'Jimmy.' She became a consulting doctor, working for herself and not at the behest of others – eventually hired to be Tony Stark's leading physician. However, it wasn't a long lived partnership – during the Civil War fought between Captain America and Iron Man, Jane supported the Secret Avengers and treated any wounded brought to her door. She vehemently opposed the Resgistration Act, and was furious to find out a clone of Thor had been used to overthrow the anti-registration supporters.
During this time, Jane and Thor had very little contact, and didn't for years following the event. The next time she was approached by Asgaridans, it was through the Warriors Three – she was devestated to learn that Odinson had perished fighting a great enemy known as 'The Serpent' and its army – aptly named 'The Worthy.' Struggling to cope with his loss, Jane's home life suffered, and a rift formed between her and Kincaid.
When news of Donald Blake and Thor's return reached Jane a year later, Foster dissolved her marriage to Keith, and in doing so, lost custody of her son. She instantly began looking for her former flame – though Blake found her first, seeking the Lady Sif. The shield maiden had seemingly vanished, and knowing the pair had been merged before, it was theorised Jane may be Sif once more. However, Sif was revealed to instead be trapped in the body of a cancer patient. With great effort, the trio were able to return Sif's soul to her body just before the patient perished.
It was a harrowing portent.
Shortly after, Jane too was diagnosed with cancer. It did not stop her accepting Thor's invitation to represent Midgard in the Congress of Worlds on Asgard while she underwent therapy, but knowing of magics treachery, refused any treatment offered to her of Asgard.
In a surprising turn of events, Thor Odinson lost the ability to wield his hammer Mjolnir. The hammer remained unattended on the Moon, waiting for a worthy wielder. Eventually, it telepathically sought Jane out. Jane eventually gave in to the hammer's call, and requested Heimdall take her to the hammer's location. Once there, Jane picked up Mjolnir, gaining Thor's powers and transforming and improving her physique, seemingly halting the spread of her cancer. Acting as 'Thor', able to use Mjolnir after years of watching Odinson wield the weapon, Jane became a secret heroine, noone aware of the new Thor's identity.
Jane was integral in preventing Malekith the Accursed's alliance with Frost Giants - who were planning on bringing their former leader, Laufey, back to life. The former Thor eventually found Mjolnir's new bearer, and demanded his weapon back. However, Jane refused, and watching her wield it, Thor ultimately accepted that the hammer had chosen a worthy new owner and gave Jane his blessing, still while not knowing her identity. He also gave Jane his name, and subsequently took the title 'Odinson.'
When she tried to stop Malekith from making a deal with Dario Agger for Laufey's skull, Thor was suddenly attacked by Cul Borson, who possessed the Destroyer Armor and was under orders from Odin to retrieve Mjolnir. Although Cul briefly managed to take Mjolnir from her, Thor summoned it back to her hand. Odinson, Freyja, and an army of the women he had identified as possible suspects for the new Thor's identity, arrived on scene and helped turn the tide of battle in Thor's favor, ultimately forcing the Destroyer to retreat. Jane, thus, was able to keep Thor's identity a mystery from Odinson and indeed the rest of the world.
During the events of 'Secret Wars', Jane was one of the heroes that tried to stop Earth-1610 from destroying her Earth, and indeed the Multiverse. She found herself one of the members of the Future Foundation's Life Raft, and on 'Battleworld', Jane was able to infiltrate the 'Thor Corps' and turn them against Doom. As a unit, they attacked Doomstadt, and bested the Barons who had been left to guard Doom's residence.
After the Multiverse had been restored, Jane returned to Asgardia, where she remained a senator of the Congress of Worlds. As 'Thor', she was still hunted by Cul, thought of as a fugitive. She became involved in the war between Svartalfheim, realm of the Dark Elves, and Alfheim, realm of the Light Elves and encountered several incarnations of Loki. After the elf races struck a deal by wedding their respective monarchs, Thor returned to Asgard to confront the power-mad Odin, who had placed Frigga on trial. She was accompanied by Loki in her attempts to prevent Odin's sentancing of the All-Mother. Thor and Odin battled across Saturn's moons, but Loki ended their destructive warring by apparently stabbing Frigga.
Following this, Thor becamea member of the Avengers. Her identity was unknown to her teammates until she was separated from the hammer, as she found herself transferred a few days into the future by Kang the Conqueror, and Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, witnessed her as she reverted to Jane. He agreed to keep it secret, even visiting her during chemotherapy so that she could have a friend to talk to.
During the events of 'Secret Empire', and Captain America's seeming defection to HYDRA, Jane had her hammer taken from her, as the inscrption upon it was changed to read 'They who shall be strongest' – rather than 'worthiest'. Captain America found himself possessing the weapon, and banished Jane to an alternate dimension. There, a farmer named Helca gave her a weapon to wield in Mjolnir's place, and helped her find a device to return her to Earth. Though she was still without Mjolnir, Jane still participated in the superheroes final assault on Washington D.C. in a final effort to defeat Captain America and return the United States to normal. Following Hydra's end, Mjolnir was given back to Jane, though it would be one of her last acts as 'Thor.'
Indeed, while her transformations into Thor halted the spread of the cancer within her, it also purged the chemicals administered during chemotherapy from her body. As such, any time spent as Jane caused her illness to worsen drastically, and Doctor Strange approached Foster, hoping to make her give up her life as Thor for her own health. It was suggested that one more transformation could kill her. Unfortunately, Jane was not able to resist the call to become Thor once more, willing to risk her life to save Asgardia from being plunged into the sun at the hands of Mangog. Jane was unable to physically best Mangog, and overcame him by binding him with the chains of Fenris, and attaching them to Mjolnir, which she then hurled into the sun. Jane then reverted to her human form, shared a kiss with Odinson, and succumbed to her illness.
Distraught, Thor channeled the essence of Tempest (which had been stored within Mjolnir) to revive her. As Jane had stood hesitantly at the gates of Valhalla, his attempts succeeded with the help of Odin, who had come to see Foster as Asgardian following her sacrifice. With Asgardians fleeing to the moon – unable to save their city – a now ressurected Jane asked Odinson to become Thor once more, continuing on her fight throughout the realms while she committed to recovering from her battle with cancer. Odinson was all too happy to agree.
Jane returned to working as a doctor and scientist, and was later gifted an enchanted vambrace as thanks for her protection of Asgard. Within it lies the power of the Valkyrie, thus allowing Foster to maintain an aspect of her heroic life and continue in her defense of the nine realms. *

Subject Interview
Thor strode tired and worn toward the palace of Asgard. Her body ached, from her shoulders to her feet, and her armour was chipped in areas about her person. Her lower lip, already dark as a bruise thanks to her Asgardian colouring, had been split, leaking a tell-tale trail of blood that dripped to her chin, and numerous welts were clear against her bare, muscled arms. She had been through quite the ordeal – and Jane Foster, whose human form was growing weaker by the day, relished every ache and pain. They reminded her she was still alive, that she had not yet given in, that she had been, at least in one body, triumphant.
Behind her, bound by a long rope, was hauled a hulking monstrosity – a beast clad in thick, iced armour. Despite its sheer size, Jane dragged it with ease, and it lay totally still as she pulled it across the bifrost, and remained so as it entered the city. Civilians gasped and pointed as it was pulled throught the streets, and by the time she'd reached the palace walls, quite a crowd had gathered to watch the spectacle.
She heard the whispers as onlookers pointed and stared, and she instantly knew the subject on which they spoke, even though they did so in hushed tones. Her appearance, she was happy to admit, was confusing. It confused even her. When weilding the hammer Mjolnir, Jane's weak body was changed into that of the Asgardian God of Thunder – albeit with a more feminine form. For so long, the people of Earth and of Asgard had known the name Thor Odinson: seeing a female entity with his hammer, calling forth storms as he once had, was, no doubt, a shock to many.
Then, there were the questions: was she the Thor? If not, where was the Odinson? Was she an Avenger? Was she Asgardian? Was she worthy? That last question Jane had asked herself more than once, and there was no set answer. She was worthy for as long as she proved herself to be – no longer.
But in that moment, she had no doubt in her mind. She had, afterall, just saved Manhattan from a rebellious frost giant. Without her aid, hundreds of lives could have been lost. That, she felt, helped ascertain her worth.
Stopping outside the palace gates, Thor waited for guards to step forth. Upon their cautious arrival, she stepped forward and nodded back to the ice-wreathed behemoth, who still had not moved. “One for the keep,” she stated boldly – referring to the vast dungeons below the city, in which enemies of Asgard were locked.
More guards appeared at her announcement, and rushed toward the beast, looking at how best to shift its monstrous bulk. They were, after all, not quite as strong as the God in their midsts. While they worked, Jane glanced about the assembled crowd and took a step toward them. Then, with a weary sigh, she made a request.
“Anyone who guides me to ale would have my eternal gratitude.” She needed a drink, and since her first relationship with the Odinson years before, she'd become quite partial to taste of Asgardian mead. Upon weilding the hammer herself, she'd become even more attuned to the beverages of the Aesir. It was no wonder the first Thor had drunk quite so much.
