Subject History
Christian was born the only son of the influential, incomparably wealthy Frost family. He had three sisters, Adrienne, Cordelia and Emma, but was only emotionally close to the last. Though he had no interest in Frost International, when Christian's father, Winston, discovered he was gay, he demanded that his son break up with his boyfriend and move home or he would be disowned. Unmoved by the threat, Christian suspended all contact with his family, save Emma.
Not to be ignored, Winston used his power and influence to have Christian's boyfriend framed and deported. Distraught, Christian turned to substance abuse. Emma, concerned for his well-being, plead with Winston to help him. Their father promised to do so, but it was a lie. Instead, he sent Christian to a mental institution, where he underwent inhumane treatment trying to "correct" his sexuality. Eventually, the results of these methods satisfied Winston enough to have Christian discharged to take over the family business.
In a twist that left him mortally fractured, Christian instead killed Winston following his lifetime of abuse at his father's hand, an act that unleashed his repressed mutant powers. Christian's mental splintering manifested as an astral projection of Winston that terrorized and imprisoned his son within the Frost manor. Through the projection, Christian repelled Emma from a visit, but after she returned with the X-Man Bobby Drake/Iceman, together they managed to pierce Christian's illusions and bring him to a more stable headspace.
Since then, Christian has been working to repair his mental and emotional state and get a handle on his powers. He's returned to a vice-CEO capacity beneath Emma within Frost International, and formally entered the Hellfire Club's inner circle as his sister's White Queen.
Subject Interview
The newest evolution of the Hellfire Club with his sister as its ruler and Black King was already a force to be reckoned with. However, its existence was still fresh and its equilibrium not quite found. Every choice, every action of every member was a precarious and dear thing. They had to expand, solidify their foundation and grow in the correct ways. For all their chess board titles, the Club was a house of cards at the moment - the barest miscalculation or draft of unexpected force would bring it crashing down.
Just another individual weight, really, of the pressure bearing down on Christian Frost's shoulders. Stacked alongside the expectations his sister placed on him as, ironically, the new White Queen. Or the simple question of his sanity. Not long before, he'd been a shattered and disoriented man with incredible powers that only made that mental mosaic literal. So many days he'd lost count spent with Emma, piecing his psyche and soul back together, had him functional.
But "functional" and what Emma expected of him were two different things. Had he been just a simple Pawn of the Hellfire Club, Christian would've needed incomparable tact, grace, wit and cunning with every syllable from his mouth and every step he made. That was multiplied a million fold when she, instead, thrust him into such a pivotal and notorious position as White Queen. Emma's faith in him was heartwarming, and only made him that much more terrified of failure.
The wood panels of the artfully crafted double doors glistened in the light of old-fashioned lanterns hanging above. This was his trial by fire - a visit to an infamous black market that attracted all sorts of evil, influential, resourceful world powers. The goal was simple: by his mere presence he would send a message of the Hellfire Club's renewed strength and life. That meant impeccable presentation and, though schooled in the fake smiles and double-edged words of high society since an infant, this was on a whole different scale.
The doors swung outward, revealing a glittering, massive, multi-faceted chamber full of the richest, most dangerous people in the world. This next part he could do without, but rather than cringe, Christian put on a lazy smile and stepped into the light as a disembodied voice rang out over the crowds: "Presenting the White Queen of the Hellfire Club."
And every eye in the place locked on him.
